Hunter families have a chance to find out more about the services that are available to help them through tough times.

Maitland Family Support Scheme will host an open day today between 10am and 2pm.

Manager Robbie King said it was a chance for people to find out what sort of assistance was available for families in the community.

She said representatives from various service providers would be available to speak with people, ranging from migrant and refugee services to women and family support services.

We provide a place where people can drop in and find out about other services, she said.

We provide advice and talk strategy with parents.

Ms King said free activities such as boomerang making and Aboriginal painting would be on offer at today’s free event, as well as a barbecue lunch.

She said the organisation moved from Ashtonfield to Woodberry Family Centre, in Lawson Avenue, Woodberry, about 12 months ago.

Ms King said the open day was also partly to remind people of the organisation’s new location.

Sally and Trudy are attending and presenting at The Sector Support evaluation session in Sydney on 26th June 2014 and have also been invited to attend the FaMS Innovative Practice Forum.
